Take Action

We ask Organic Trade Association members to take action on the following organic legislative and regulatory policy issues. Organic Trade Association members should lean on our regulatory staff for assistance in submitting comments, providing feedback to OTA for inclusion in our final comments, and with any issue-specific questions or concerns.

Tell USDA to publish the proposed rule on Origin of Livestock

USDA has reopened the comment period for the proposed rule on Origin of Livestock that was originally published on April 28, 2015. The new comment period is open until December 2, 2019 to give all interested parties an additional opportunity to comment on the proposed rule. It is critical that USDA hears a unified voice from the organic community that we support rulemaking that clarifies and narrows the allowance for transitioning dairy animals to organic milk production.

The Organic Trade Association will be providing new tools and resources to members to facilitate a robust comment period.

Tell Congress to Feed Children ORGANIC Milk and Food in Schools!

Help increase organic options in federal programs that feed women and children. Non-organic milk tested positive for illegal antibiotics, high levels of growth hormones and controversial pesticide contaminants in a recent study by Emory University and The Organic Center. Organic milk tested clean.

Tell your Congressman to fund programs to feed children healthy organic milk.

It's simple. Organic milk and other organic foods and beverages should be an option for children during mealtimes at school. Organic milk has more of the healthy vitamins and minerals found in milk and none of the bad stuff. Help kids build strong bones and healthy muscles without the antibiotics, hormones, and pesticides.
