The strength of ORGANIC depends on each and every one of us.
We are working to maintain key relationships and make new, strong connections on Capitol Hill. Building on great successes over the past two decades, we must put our effort into protecting those gains. We will reinforce organic as a positive choice for families, farms, communities and economies.
OTA is preparing a policy platform for the 2018 Farm Bill built around stakeholder input.
It’s critical that we all engage now on priority setting. OTA is gearing up to advocate for policies that benefit organic, and we want to bring your voice to the table.
Whether outside attacks from those seeking to weaken organic standards or those advocating measures that will threaten organic farming, OTA is there to stand firm on strong organic standards and for defending organic practices.
“OTA was instrumental in facilitating the organic industry’s response to concerns about arsenic in food as well as sponsoring a working group on the issue. OTA’s experienced staff helped members deal with consumer, industry, regulatory and legislative concerns, and enabled us to provide valuable input as regulators developed their proposed rule.”
– Grant Lundberg, Lundberg Family Farms
We act fast to counter misinformation about organic when negative stories materialize. We help to protect and positively impact the reputation of organic with fact-based responses and demands for fair and accurate press coverage. OTA members faced with their own crisis PR issues often lean on OTA for support.
"Today's public demands, and as such, the media needs a reliable source of information for organic standards, production, consumer insights and policy impact. I recommend the OTA to my colleagues in the media as a quality resource to better inform their content across all aspects of organic."
– Ashley Koff RD, founder of Ashley Koff Approved (AKA)
This is critical to market stability and essential to our members who go the extra distance to make and sell certified organic products. OTA has worked extensively with government regulatory agencies on these issues.
Our international programming provides an array of opportunities to showcase your products to multiple export markets—both abroad and here in the United States, from trade missions, to educational seminars, to online tools.
OTA is an inclusive organization where diverse stakeholders all benefit from the core work that OTA does. Producers to processors, and everyone in between can work together through OTA member communities, including sector councils, working groups, and task forces.
