Organic Trade Association announces 2005-2006 officers
CHICAGO, Illinois (May 2, 2005)— Phil Margolis of Neshaminy Valley Natural Foods Distributor, who in 2003 took over the reins as president of the Organic Trade Association (OTA) and was re-elected in 2004, will continue as president of the business association serving the organic industry in North America for 2005-2006.
Margolis presided over OTA's Annual Meeting Saturday evening in conjunction with OTA's 2005 All Things Organic™ Conference and Trade Show being held through May 3 at McCormick Place.
Other officers for 2005-2006 include Jesse Singerman of Roundy's, Inc., vice president representing the United States and president-elect; Debra Boyle of SunOpta, Inc., vice president representing Canada; Chuck Marcy of Marcy & Partners, treasurer; Julia Sabin of Smucker Quality Beverages, secretary; and Lynn Clarkson of Clarkson Grain Company, at-large member on OTA's executive committee.
In OTA's recent balloting, Luis Acuña of CF Fresh and Jesse Singerman were re-elected to the board. Newly elected were Hélène Bouvier of Minnewashta Valley Organics Canada, Inc., and Matt McLean of Uncle Matt's Organic, Inc. In addition, Dave DeCou of One Step Forward Farm and Marcy were selected to fill two appointed positions on the board.
Other members on the board include Nancy Hirshberg of Stonyfield Farm, Theresa Marquez of Organic Valley/CROPP Cooperative, Marty Mesh of Florida Certified Organic Growers & Consumers/Quality Certification Serices, Maria Morgan of Small Plant Foods, Inc., and Mary Mulry of H.E. Butt Grocery Company.
Going off the board are Anne Gillespie of Agility Consulting and Andy Grant of Grant Family Farms.
The Organic Trade Association is the business association representing the organic industry in North America. Its 1,600 members include growers, shippers, processors, certifiers, farmers' associations, distributors, importers, exporters, consultants, retailers and others.
