Super Size Me creator will be keynote speaker at 2005 All Things OrganicTM Conference and Trade Show
GREENFIELD, Mass. (Oct. 14, 2004): Award-winning writer, director and producer Morgan Spurlock, best known for his feature film Super Size Me, will be a keynote speaker at the Organic Trade Association's 2005 All Things OrganicTM Conference and Trade Show, slated for April 30-May 3, 2005, at McCormick Place in Chicago.
"Morgan Spurlock's presence at All Things OrganicTM will help put a spotlight on the general trend of over consumption and unhealthy eating patterns in our country, and will offer a challenge to the food industry on how to responsibly market its products, particularly to children," said Katherine DiMatteo, executive director of the Organic Trade Association (OTA). His message, she noted, includes the importance of providing good education about nutrition and physical education to schoolchildren.
In his compelling film, Spurlock shows what can happen to a healthy person who lives solely on huge portions of fast food. He also interviews health professionals across the United States about the obesity epidemic, and looks at school lunch programs. His talk will include some of the provocative findings of the film and possible steps needed for change.
All Things OrganicTM is presented by OTA in partnership with Diversified Business Communications. The May 2005 event will mark its fifth year, and the second year it has co-located with the Food Marketing Institute Show, Fancy Food Show, United Produce Expo and Conference, and the U.S. Food Export Showcase. All Things OrganicTM is the largest conference and trade show in North America exclusively dedicated to organic.
Details concerning the conference and trade show are posted online at www.organicexpo.com.
