    Join OTA at Atlantic Canadian Organic Regional Network's (ACORN) 10th anniversary conference and trade show. OTA Board Member Marty Mesh will deliver the keynote address at 6pm on Friday, March 5. OTA - Canada's Managing Director Matt Holmes will hold an International Export Information Session on Friday at 11:30am.

    Join OTA Executive Director, Christine Bushway, and Chief of Policy & External Affairs, Laura Batcha, at the Danish Embassy on Tuesday, March 9, from 3:00-5:00 pm. The World Food Law Institute at Howard University School of Law, the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization and the Embassy of Denmark invite you to participate in an experts' Round Table discussion of two very topical (and perhaps eventually contentious) issues in international food trade - equivalence and certification. For more information contact worldfoodlaw@law.howard.edu

    OTA will be exhibiting at Expo West again this year - stop by and visit at booth # 2321. OTA will be holding two gatherings for members to meet with Christine Bushway and OTA’s executive team and to mingle and catch up on developments from the new Washington, D.C., office. These will take place Friday, March 12, from 3-4 p.m. and Saturday, March 13, from 1-2 p.m. in Room 201C, Anaheim Convention Center. Members are encouraged to bring a not-yet-member guest. OTA will also host member forum and task force meetings, including an International Trade Forum gathering with special guest Foreign Agriculture Service Administrator John Brewer at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 12 in Room 201C .     Foreign Buyers Mission at Expo West

    OTA is hosting a Foreign Buyers Mission at the Natural Products Expo West tradeshow. OTA is hosting nine organic buyers from Malaysia, Australia, Korea, France, Singapore, and Italy with a special focus on food ingredient buyers. Pertinent documents, including a private meeting application are available online.     Join Matt Holmes, Managing Director of OTA - Canada, in a panel session at Expo West. The U.S.-Canada Organic Equivalency Agreement passed in June of 2009 brings about furthur ease and opportunity for cross boarder Organic commerce.  This session will discuss the opportunities and important issues surrounding Organic products and agriculture in Canada. The session begins at 2:30pm.

    Tom Hutcheson, OTA's Regulatory Manager, will participate in the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit, organized by Organic Monitor. The Summit focuses on the leading issues the beauty industry faces concerning sustainability, natural, organic, fair trade and ecological products. The aim of the summit is to encourage sustainability in the beauty industry by bringing together key stake-holders and debate these major issues in a high-level forum. It will bring together key stake-holders in the beauty industry that include cosmetic manufacturers, ingredient & raw material suppliers, retailers & distributors, industry organizations & certification agencies, researchers & academics, investors, etc.

    OTA has scheduled its 2010 Policy Conference and Hill Visit Days for April 14 and 15, following a full day Board Meeting on April 13. Registration is now open. A current agenda is available online; confirmed speakers include Rep. Rosa DeLauro (CT-3), Dr. Temple Grandin, Keith Jones (Staff Director of the House Committee on Horticulture & Organic Agriculture), Miles McEvoy (Deputy Administrator of the National Organic Program), and Katherine DiMatteo (President of IFOAM's World Board).

    USDA Organic Stakeholders Listening Session

    USDA has annouced that the next Organic Stakeholders Listening Session will be held in conjunction with OTA’s Policy Conference & Hill Visit Days this spring! The session will be hosted by OTA, the Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF), and USDA and is sponsored by the USDA Organic Working Group. The session will be held on Friday, April 16, from 8:30 a.m. until 12 noon in the USDA Whitten Building, room 107-A. Topics with include discussion of new programs of the NRCS, a roundtable with USDA and stakeholders, and a discussion on organic labeling.
