In 1992, the Organic Trade Association implemented “Organic Harvest Month™”, a widespread promotion of organic food and agriculture through regional and local events. |
The objective of Organic Harvest Month™ is to highlight organic agriculture and the growing organic products industry. September is also an ideal time for consumers and retailers to celebrate the bounty of the organic harvest.
Events and celebrations of all shapes and sizes take place across North America, in parks, schools, stores, farmers' markets and at restaurants. Events in the past have included Gastronomic Walking Tours, Organic Country Fairs, organic-themed barn dances, special displays and tastings at supermarkets and special pull-out sections in local newspapers.

February 2012:
- 32nd Annual Eco-Farm Conference, Feb 1-4, Asilomar, CA.
Laura Batcha will be a speaker, giving an update on AC21.
- CCOF Annual Meeting, Feb. 1, 2012, Asilomar, CA.
Gwendolyn Wyard and Laura Batcha will attend. Wyard will speak on Food Safety, while Batcha will speak on Understanding the U.S. Farm Bill and How it Relates to Organic Producers.
- Winter Conference
The 30th annual NOFA Vermont Winter Conference will be held February 10-12, at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont. Dave Gagnon, COO, will be attending.
- BioFach 2012, Feb 15 – 18
Nuremburg, Germany. Attending will be Christine Bushway, Laura Batcha, Gwendolyn Wyard, Bob Anderson, and Jessica Poingt (OTA’s International Trade Manager). Bushway and Anderson are slated to serve as moderators for sessions on Organic and Food Safety, and U.S./E.U. Trade Negotiation Update, while Wyard is slated to speak in the Organic and Food Safety session. Meanwhile, Batcha will speak in a Global Market Overview session.
- Midwest Organic and Sustainable Education Service (MOSES)
Organic Farming Conference, Feb. 23-25, La Crosse, WI, the OFC is an extraordinary, farmer-centered event.
March 2012:
Natural Products Expo West, March 8-11, 2012, Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, CA
OTA staff will staff a booth in the trade show and participate in numerous meetings and conference sessions.
