An article in the Feb. 14, 2013 edition of Capital Press, “Organic checkoff extolled” by Mateusz Perkowski, reported on the proposed ORPP as discussed at a Town Hall during the recent Organicology conference.

An opinion piece in the Nov. 26, 2012 issue of Supermarket News, “Organic Industry Needs a Check-off Program” by Robert Vosburgh, asserted that “It’s time for organic farmers, producers and manufacturers to start thinking like a brand, and to chart their own course.”

In the Winter 2012 issue of SN Whole Health, Christine Bushway, OTA’s CEO and executive director, discusses the opportunity for a potential cross-category Organic Research and Promotion Program.

Cathy Calfo, Executive Director of CCOF, authored a blog post titled “Got Organic?” in Nov. 2012 explaining to the organizations thousands of farmer members that “…such an order will likely increase organic sales through targeted research and promotion.”

Melissa Hughes, General Counsel for Organic Valley, submitted the End Piece, Sector explores pooling resources to expand organic agriculture, in the Spring 2012 edition of OTA’s news magazine The Organic Report. Hughes notes “…check-off programs have been unwilling to promote organic choice, and, in fact, ignore organic.”

The May/June issue of Organic Processing Magazine featured a roundtable discussion with leading organic companies, Creating a "Marketing Promotion Order" to Drive Consumer Awareness” that also highlighted a national organic marketing campaign in the U.K.
